Services I offer

Divorce is a lot more than a legal process. It’s also a very technical financial challenge. Fortunately, with a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® professional like me on your side, I can help you and your client to clear all of these intimidating hurdles:

Completing the AFI

The Affidavit of Financial Information—one of the very first steps in the process—is overwhelming for your clients. Not only does it ask tons of questions about their current financial situation (many of which may be hard enough to answer, depending on their spouse’s situation), but it also asks them seemingly-impossible questions about the future. Income. Assets. Child expenses. Health insurance. The AFI is a challenge unto itself. Let me help your client not only complete the document, but do so in a way that helps you build the best possible case for them.

Child support calculation

What are your client’s—and her children’s—financial needs? They’re hardly static; children grow. And tax laws treat them differently at different ages (and where they live, for given portions of the year), so you need to know exactly what you’re doing to plan the best possible future for them. I’m an expert at this. Let me help.

Separate property tracing

My attorney clients uniformly love this service from me, when it’s needed. Let me and my team determine who-owned-what, and when. You’ll often need a financial “snapshot” of one specific date in time, such as when your client first married, or when they were separated. Tracking this down can be tricky: It requires special software and forensic skills to reconstruct what something was worth, at a given time, compared to what it’s worth now—or what it will yield in the future. The implications are huge. Don’t try to do this yourself: your time is better spent on billable services, and, frankly, you won’t uncover the things that I will.

Listing and valuation of all assets, liabilities, income and expenses

You can’t complete a divorce without a full and accurate picture of all the financial elements. This is inherently hard—but it gets even trickier when, say, the spouse is trying to hide assets or information or there are hard-to-value assets such as pensions. Let me scrutinize his AFI. Let me pore through those bank statements, tax returns… all of it. I can see when things “don’t look right,” and dig deeper, on your behalf, when necessary. I have saved my clients a fortune doing this—and made their attorneys look like superstars in the process.

QDRO calculation

Let me help with the complex calculations needed to complete any Qualified Domestic Relations Orders.

Spousal maintenance

How much will your client be able to count on, each month, each year? Is it being calculated accurately? Fairly? What are the tax considerations? Put me and my team to work on this for you.

Tons more

This is a brief overview of just a few of the financial services I provide for women facing divorce. Yes, this is highly technical. And I’m highly qualified to tackle it. But I promise to make everything clear and simple for you: What your client will get. What she can expect. Because the financial/technical side is my job, not yours.
